Police in Fairfax County said they are seeking to identify a woman whose body was found Tuesday morning in the grass next to a parking garage in the Herndon area. The case is being investigated as a suspicious death.

A man walkingin the neighborhood found the body in the 2300 block of Dulles Station Boulevard shortly after 7 a.m. Police said the body was that of a white female, possibly in her 20s, with red hair, but they were still trying to confirm her identity as of Tuesday night.

The woman suffered obvious head trauma, but the medical examiner will make a final determination on the cause and manner of her death, police said.

Detectives are investigating evidence, which was recovered on the upper floors of the eight-level parking garage and is possibly related to the woman, police said.

In a letter to its residents, the Camden Dulles Station complex said: “We know that this incident did not occur within [its] property or grounds.”

The discovery comes a day after police said remains were found in a wooded area of Woodlawn Park.

On Monday, a man was walking around 8:30 p.m. in the woods near the 4800 block of Manor Drive when he came across a body in a “advanced state of decomposition” and contacted authorities, according to a police statement.

Authorities said they believe those remains are that of a man but did not release any additional identification. The remains were taken to the Office of the Medical Examiner to determine the cause of death. That case is also under investigation.

Since the winter, there have been two other instances of bodies found in Fairfax.

In February, a man walking his dog found possible human remains behind townhouses in Franconia. And around that same time, there was another report of remains being found in a wooded, isolated area near the Difficult Run Stream Valley Park area in Herndon.
